Introduce the project management plan using the 5ws
and 1h

I am Donal Carroll WHO, I am writing my first blog post WHAT, as part of my journalism course, here at CDCFE Barry’s court road Coolock WHERE. WHEN On my first day ih class with Orlagh at the computer up the front of the class. WHY? Because as part of the class this was our first task. HOW through the pain and suffering of having to listen to Orla try and fail to communicate to me the simplest of ideas.

What work did you begin/complete in this session?

In this session I googled the 5 w’s and one h I found this on Wikipedia and used as a template for the task;

The Five Ws (sometimes referred to as Five Ws and How, 5W1H, or Six Ws)^[1] are questions whose answers are considered basic in information gathering or problem solving. They are often mentioned in journalism (cf. news style), research and police investigations.^[2]They constitute a formula for getting the complete story on a subject.^[3] According to the principle of the Five Ws, a report can only be considered complete if it answers these questions starting with an interrogative word:^[1]

• Who was involved?
• What happened?
• Where did it take place?
• When did it take place?
• Why did that happen?

Some authors add a sixth question, how, to the list:^[1]

Did you fulfil tasks as outlined in project management plan?

yes to the best of my knowledge I feel I have
Are you on track to meet next deadline?

Yes I believe so
Did you have enough time to complete the tasks?

Not really I suffered from not having started the course on the same date as the rest of my class.

Risks/issues

Did you identify any risks/issues with lack of skills required to deliver tasks?

no not really it was fairly straight forward
Did you bring these to the tutor’s attention?

I attempted to contact my tutor via email with no response
What was their response?

He explained that he does not answer emails or correspond with students outside of class time.

Problems

What barriers did you encounter in this session?

It was a little hard to try to explain myself to Orlagh the student teacher in my class she was not really listening to me or at least not taking on any of my concerns.
How did you overcome these barriers?

I attempted to say it to the class rep who said she would bring it up in the meeting maybe sum extra classes or a meeting outside of class time to discuss how far I was behind and to put together a plan of action as to how I could catch up. Nothing really came of it so i resolved to suck it up butter cup and press on as best I could with little to guidance or communication form my tutors.

How did you feel when you encountered barriers in this session?

Hopeless abandoned and alone

How well have you performed?

To my knowledge quite well but i feel like a man in a dark room I am not really sure what I know or how little I know at this point.
What did you contribute?

It is hard to know I feel I have contributed as best as i could in the circumstance.
Did you help any of your team members in this session?

Unfortunately not I feel I may have not even started the course at this point and am only now trying to retrospectively look back to fill in the gaps in the course content
